About the Role:
You will be responsible for designing, advising on, and implementing a comprehensive data classification program. Your expertise will bridge business requirements and technical implementation, ensuring sensitive data is identified, classified, and protected according to policy and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and consult on the design and implementation of an enterprise data classification framework and strategy.
- Analyze business processes and data flows to define classification categories, labels, and handling rules.
- Provide expert guidance to technical teams for translating business requirements into technically configurable classification and protection policies.
- Work hands-on with data classification technologies (e.g., Microsoft Purview, GetVisibility, Boldon James) to configure, test, and deploy classification rules.
- Develop and document data classification policies, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, data governance, and IT teams to ensure alignment.
- Conduct workshops and training for business users on data classification protocols and their importance.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 2–5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, data protection, or information governance, with a specific focus on data classification consulting.
- Hands-on working experience in designing and implementing data classification programs.
- Direct experience providing guidance to technical teams to configure classification policies within dedicated tools.
- Practical knowledge of data classification technologies such as Microsoft Purview, GetVisibility, Boldon James, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of data privacy principles and regulatory landscapes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CIPP, CDPSE).
- Experience working within the UAE or GCC region.
- Knowledge of data loss prevention (DLP) and information rights management (IRM) solutions.
