What You Will Do
As an Assistant Accountant at Oaks Hotels in Dubai, you will support the finance department in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring smooth daily operations.
Process Financial Transactions
You will record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner. This includes processing invoices, expense reports, and payments for both receivables and payables . Your attention to detail ensures that all transactions are properly documented and coded to the correct accounts.
You will also handle supplier invoices, verify their accuracy, and book them to the appropriate cost centers with correct VAT codes . Processing electronic transfers and payments will be part of your regular responsibilities .
Maintain Accurate Records
Keeping ledgers, journals, and financial records up to date is essential. You will ensure all data is properly organized and easily accessible for reporting and audit purposes .
You will perform regular reconciliations of bank statements and internal accounts, verifying that all records match external statements . This includes reconciling revenues and payments registered in the property management system with receivables on bank accounts .
Support Financial Reporting
You will assist senior accountants in compiling data and preparing draft financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets . Supporting the month-end and year-end close processes will be part of your role .
You may also help prepare management reports on an ad-hoc basis as requested by the finance team . Filing, scanning documents, and retrieving information for audits are important administrative tasks that ensure everything stays organized .
Ensure Compliance
Following internal policies, accounting standards, and tax regulations (including VAT) is essential . You will help ensure all financial activities comply with UAE requirements and company guidelines.
Support Daily Operations
You will assist with other duties as assigned by the finance team, providing general support to ensure smooth departmental operations .

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required . Your degree provides the foundation for understanding accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience
You need a minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry . Experience in hotels or similar environments helps you understand the unique aspects of hospitality finance.
Technical Skills
- Transaction Processing: Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
- Reconciliations: Ability to perform bank reconciliations and verify internal records against external statements
- Software Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with financial data and spreadsheets
- Accounting Systems: Familiarity with property management systems (like Opera Cloud) and accounting software is a plus
- VAT Knowledge: Understanding of VAT regulations and proper coding of transactions
