We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer – Asset Management Support to join our team in Dubai. In this critical office-based role, you will ensure the reliability and performance of our mechanical assets by maintaining and optimizing data for our dredging and offshore vessels .
About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer supporting the Asset Management Team, you will be the technical expert responsible for the integrity of mechanical asset data. You will focus on main drive systems and offshore equipment, working closely with vessel crews and suppliers to ensure our machinery is always ready for action .
This role is perfect for an engineer who enjoys deep technical analysis, problem-solving, and playing a key part in the backbone of global maritime infrastructure .
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Asset Data Management: Maintain and analyze mechanical asset records for critical systems, including diesel engines, gearboxes, thrusters, shaft lines, winches, cranes, cable carousels, trenchers, and dredging equipment .
- Technical Analysis: Understand the working principles of propulsion systems and offshore machinery, and identify key mechanical components and assemblies .
- Spare Parts Management: Identify and manage mechanical components and spare parts, ensuring compliance with maritime standards and Jan De Nul’s minimum spare parts requirements .
- Documentation & Compliance: Review technical documentation and ensure all asset data aligns with operational needs and safety standards .
- Cross-Team Coordination: Collaborate with vessel crews, the Technical Department (TD), and suppliers to validate mechanical asset data and ensure accuracy .
- System Proficiency: Manage mechanical article master data in the maintenance system (AmosW) and utilize MS Office tools, with a strong emphasis on Excel, for data analysis and reporting .
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you need a strong mechanical engineering background and experience in a heavy equipment or maritime environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent .
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in maritime, offshore, or heavy mechanical systems .
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, gearboxes, and propulsion systems. Familiarity with offshore equipment such as winches, cranes, and trenching systems is a plus .
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret technical drawings and identify mechanical components with precision .
- Language: Fluent in English (written and verbal) .
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel and experienced with asset management systems (e.g., AmosW, Maximo, SAP PM) .
