About the Role

As of 2026, the UAE has firmly established itself as the global hub of Islamic banking and finance, with Islamic banking assets surpassing AED 1.15 trillion and accounting for approximately 25% of the total banking system . The government’s ambitious target to expand Islamic banking assets toward AED 2.56 trillion by 2031 continues to drive innovation and growth in this sector .
In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and structuring Shariah-compliant financial products, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the UAE’s vision as the capital of the Islamic economy. Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Structuring:
- Develop and structure Shariah-compliant financial products including Sukuk, Islamic funds, Takaful solutions, and retail banking products .
- Ensure all products adhere to Shariah principles and AAOIFI standards while meeting market demands and commercial objectives .
- Collaborate with Shariah scholars to obtain fatwas and ensure ongoing compliance of products and structures .
Shariah Compliance & Governance:
- Review and validate contracts, agreements, and product documentation for Shariah compliance .
- Work closely with internal Shariah committees and external scholars to address compliance matters .
- Monitor ongoing compliance of existing products and transactions, preparing regular Shariah compliance reports .
Market Research & Innovation:
- Stay updated on emerging trends in Islamic finance, including green Sukuk, Islamic fintech, and sustainability-linked structures .
- Identify opportunities for innovation in Shariah-compliant products that align with global sustainability goals (ESG) .
- Contribute to research and development initiatives that position the organization as a leader in Islamic finance .
Training & Awareness:
- Develop and deliver training programs on Islamic finance principles and products for internal teams and stakeholders .
- Serve as a subject matter expert, advising business units on Shariah-compliant solutions .
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Finance, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s degree or PhD preferred) .
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Islamic finance, product development, or Shariah compliance roles .
- Professional certifications such as CIFE, CSAA, or AAOIFI certification are highly preferred .
Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of Shariah principles, Fiqh al-Muamalat, and their application to modern financial products .
- Strong knowledge of AAOIFI standards, regulatory frameworks in the UAE, and global Islamic finance best practices .
- Experience with Sukuk structuring, Islamic funds, or Takaful operations .
- Familiarity with Islamic fintech, digital solutions, and sustainability-linked Islamic finance .
Personal Attributes:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail .
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage with Shariah scholars and business stakeholders .
- Integrity and commitment to ethical financial practices .
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); proficiency in Arabic is a strong advantage .
