We are seeking an experienced and strategic Commercial Manager to join our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role for a commercially astute professional who will be responsible for shaping our commercial strategy, maximizing profitability, and ensuring the financial success of our contracts and operations.

About the Role:

As Commercial Manager, you will hold ultimate responsibility for the commercial performance of the business or a major division. You will provide leadership to the commercial team, develop and execute strategies to secure profitable growth, and ensure robust financial and contractual governance across all activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the overall commercial strategy to drive business growth, market penetration, and profitability.
  • Financial Oversight: Take full ownership of budgets, forecasting, cost management, and financial reporting. Ensure all projects and contracts deliver targeted margins.
  • Tender & Bid Management: Lead the preparation and submission of high-value tenders, proposals, and bids. Develop compelling commercial offers and negotiate complex contracts.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks. Ensure full compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Act as the key commercial point of contact for clients, joint venture partners, and key suppliers. Negotiate and maintain critical agreements.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of quantity surveyors, estimators, and commercial analysts.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and enhance commercial systems, processes, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in a Senior Commercial Manager, Head of Commercial, or similar leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in [Mention specific industry, e.g., construction, FM, IT services] with a deep understanding of its commercial dynamics.
  • Demonstrated success in managing P&L, driving profitability, and securing major contracts.
  • Expert knowledge of contract law, standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT, FIDIC), and risk management.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A leadership style that is both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Finance, or a related field. Professional accreditation (MRICS, MCIPS, etc.) is highly desirable.
